i may or may not be one of the people who's pretty much only ever read harry potter so uh
anyone got some book suggestions? i wanna read more things
@kara_dreamer ooo this seems interesting!
@turbodragon maybe something by Zadie Smith?
@turbodragon what did you like about harry potter? are you looking for similar books, or do you want to try something different?
@ebeth tbh its been so long since I last read the books I probably couldn't name anything in particular, im open to reading pretty much anything though!
@turbodragon one of my favorite fantasy series is The Belgariad by David Eddings: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Belgariad
it's a little bit typical fantasy but it's a fun read. the characters were the strongest draw for me, and i read this one around the same time as i was reading HP
most recently in recs i've been shoving at everyone, NK Jemisin just released the third book in her Broken Earth trilogy, the first one is called The Fifth Season: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fifth_Season_(novel)
more dense and weighty but all three books are fantastic. you get awesome concepts like geology magic and it gives you a lot to think about
@ebeth aw wow these seem really cool!
Isaac Asimov's The Foundation Trilogy
@turbodragon did you try the Raymond Feist "Krondor chronicles" ?
@Chakiral i haven't, this seems interesting!
@turbodragon maybe try some murakami? I'd start with The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle
@tomharris ooooo this sounds interesting!
@turbodragon Read the web comic "Gunnerkrigg Court"
