Unexpected berserk button: childish jackasses on Reddit trying to pretend that the first Pacific Rim movie -- which features a giant robot hitting a giant monster with a cargo ship and the line "Come on! Let's do this! Together!" delivered with complete sincerity -- was "gritty".
@kara_dreamer Absolutely. They're afraid of seeming like children or liking kid stuff. But they don't realise that the quickest way to seem childish to loudly insist that you aren't a child.
@tobascodagama yep, see also bronies insisting that THEY (i.e. post-adolescent male geeks) must be the true audience for "Friendship is Magic"
@tobascodagama I daresay there are a heck of a lot of geeks who refuse to believe that _any_ entertainment they happen to adore isn't "dark" or "gritty".
