Called No More Heroes. It’s about privilege, big picture, and a high level look at the dangers of good intentions, an overall review of things like “how/why Teach For America is a neoliberal scab program which breaks up teachers unions” or “why sex worker ‘trafficking rescue’ campaigns are a destructive mess” etc. review of lots of bad stuff as examples for bigger principles. It’s the book 18-yo me needed. It’s the lessons of my 20s.

The overall approach recommended is grassroots action under leadership of affected communities, especially POC, and with grounding in how existing systems cause these crises. I’d recc it even for folks like me who learned this stuff at various points because it’s useful to see a thing one learned in pieces systematize/could be a good ref/could be a good gift for friends/fam who are idealistic. It’s by a white dude which made me 😒but it works.
