Back before I had to stop doing crochet because of my wrists, I was fascinated by slip-stitch crochet/pjoning. It turns out that if you work it at a much looser gauge, slip stitch crochet is actually fairly stretchy and has good drape, rather like knitting. Use a much bigger hook than you ordinarily would for crochet.
