ok, no fresh submissions for #linux distros to try came in

so it's time to choose

gonna put on something appropriate here...

*puts on CORE*

so the deal is, as I've described once before is as follows: got four personalities, four elements, four suits of the #tarot deck...four choices. if I draw a trump card then I go by what I read from it...or just take a mulligan. my choice

to repeat the choices

Mona - Arch Linux - air - swords
Kel - Manjuro - water - cups
me, Kara - Debian - earth - pentacles
Chara (who thinks this is all ridiculous and wants me to suffer) - Slackware - fire - wands

so...shuffling eight times and drawing one card.

and the card is, for some reason, The Lovers

I will choose to interpret this as someone playing a prank on me, and reshuffle and draw again.

@kara I suggest, Kara, that the Thoth deck may be more appropriate. we associate the Thoth deck with our workplace magic and also with tasks involving writing, and this computer business really is more like work and writing than like the earthier, homelier associations that we have with the Fenestra deck. also what we do here will probably affect what we do with our workplace computer, i.e. our laptop.

still should use the altar Thoth deck rather than the portable Thoth deck, however

@mona well advised, horse

(I know this must look a bit comical, turning "installing Linux" into this bit of magickal palaver, but we have so little real relish for this tedious task and everything about computers and programming in general that trying to turn it all into a work of chaos magick is just about the only way I can think of to make it fun.)

@kara @mona need a shiny!

light a candle! but to who... *scratches head, thinking, looking at what's already on the altar* we needed that Doom Guy plushie you were thinking of maybe

@kel @mona nah, that was specifically gone be for when I wanted to get into a computer game. this is more general

shit I dunno, I've thought of computers as vaguely Thothy but I just don't have the strong affinity yet.

Alphys? maybe Mettaton?

Kel the Purple @kel

@kara @mona there's the galena! that's a semiconductor! it's a reach, but...

@kel @mona hey, good enough for me! we will honor not a god, but the Earth herself and one of her crystalline flowers, galena (lead sulfide). here, I'll take a photo of my sample. occult.camp/media/a3wxr5lxCBCb

all right, continuing the #tarot #linux distro selection ritual.

shuffling my altar Thoth deck eight times, drawing a card, and...

...

I drew a null card essentially

the unicursal hexagram card that I forgot to take out of the deck, basically.

@mona @kel occult.camp/media/crEJNiiDUy_4

@kara @mona @kel HAHA

you dork

you know what this means, the card that's got all the OTO shit on it is _also_ in the deck you've just shuffled

*giggles mercilessly*

@chara @kara @kel well, Kara...we could simply take this as a mulligan, but I offer the alternate interpretation:

in our workplace deck, we had to replace the Prince of Disks card, which sustained water damage, with the unicursal hexagram card. even though this is _not_ our workplace deck, we could treat the card the same way, as the Prince of Disks, i.e. an Earth card, i.e. we install Debian.

@chara @mona @kel I agree, I'm removing the spurious cards and reshuffling and redrawing

@kara @mona @kel hahaha

Slackware here we come, this is gonna be great

#tarot #linux distro ritual

no...not Slackware

but something maybe just as bad if not worse

and the omen is bad indeed

I drew the 10 of Swords

"RUIN"

swords means air, and air means Mona, and Mona's choice is Arch Linux

@chara @mona @kel occult.camp/media/02UlbqORIL-Q

@kara @mona @kel it was nice knowing you Kara

uh, anyone know any other weird Undertale fangirl's head I can hang out in
