Today's Card: Hanged Man, reversed

Key Words: needless sacrifice, stalling, fear of sacrifice

Ok so I'm switching over to my own decks with no reversed cards soon. I can see better now how reversed meanings work, but it's still kind of weird to me. Positive card, reverse, oops downsides. Negative card, reverse, MORE DOWN SIDES. I know those are huge oversimplifications, but that's how it feels (not necessarily how it *is*).

That said, "needless sacrifice" and fear that it was for nothing applies to pretty much my entire professional life, tbh. Both my master's (no job) and my training as a pharmacy tech (job having problems). At least I have my writing.

@chaognostica I've not made use of "reversed" tarot cards as a source of information in my own dabbling...some decks don't seem to invite their use, for one thing?

@kara_dreamer I've been using the Golden Thread app because it's so convenient, and it uses reversed cards. I would agree that most of my decks don't seem set up for that, or at least the way I use them isn't.

And again, since I've been using this app and seeing the reversed meanings, I can appreciate the added nuance and understand why people use them. But it's probably not something I'm going to bring back into my own decks, at least not now.

@chaognostica *nods* if it seems more like added noise to you, rather than a useful signal, by all means don't feel obliged to use it! my instinct is that reversed cards might be more useful a thing with decks with relatively simple, stylized artwork
