@gracie @Concerned_Catgirl honestly saying that things will “just change one day” is very demeaning and not helping. things may seem hopeless and structurally against us but that doesn’t mean we still have some human autonomy that allows us to challenge it. trust me, as a fellow trans folk who dealt (and still somewhat deals) with mental health issues a lot, things never “gets better.” we, you and me, must force improvement ourselves. we must make it better 💝

@weirdoslam I disagree. I've seen some things in half a century walking this planet. Things change around us all the time.
I know you're trying to help, but I think it's demeaning to tell someone it's all on them when they're struggling to keep their spoons together.

@gracie i never said it’s entirely their responsibility. ofc outside forces also play a big part of it. that’s why i said *we* must make it better. both the person hurting and the others outside. if one faulters at doing their part then nothing gets done. but saying it’s better for mentally ill to do nothing to change their situation and just wait for the “it gets better” moment is to attempt to strip them of their autonomy and ensure that they never recover outside of hermitism. 😬
