#Queer has had an undercurrent of 'for the unprivileged' running through it since the beginning.

It's no surprise that mainstream wants to rip it from our hands, it's a constant reminder that they are frequently willing/unwilling oppressors.

For the privileged in the LGBT community, frequently the G, they will only ever experience it as a historical slur.

That's because they don't belong here. If you're conservative, you're not queer. If you don't support people with MH needs, you're not queer. Queer is the intersectional call that the mainstream reject, and can't identify with.
