I've been playing Hob with the 6yo. We finished it today. Not, like, 100%, but pretty close and finished there story. I quite liked it and the art style was really great.
The 6yo did ask part way through, "Daddy, why is this a fighting game?"
"Because that's how they made it."
"I like just running games better."
"Me, too."
@benhamill Gotta love the earnesty. ^_^ Cherish and enshrine that. There's not enough of it in this world. ^_^
I love your little stories about your family here.
@ayachan Thanks. Sometimes I wonder if I'm being too twee or whatever.
@ayachan Heh. That's a good point. I've been trying to be more earnest in general and less sarcastic. This is a good reminder. Thanks. 💖
@ayachan Can I boost that?
@benhamill Absolutely!! ^_^ Please do.
@benhamill @ayachan I love sarcasm, but I do think that it requires a knowledge of right-time-right-place. If it's not earnest, it's not the right time.
And re: being "twee", would you get mad at a puppy for always being cute? (not trying to be accusatory, trying to expand your understanding/worldview with a rhetorical question)
Also also, feeling joy is radical and revolutionary and if anyone tries to take that away from you/us I will destroy them.
@ThisQueerBashesBack @benhamill Sarcasm is a delicate thing; so many people completely misuse it. You're absolutely right about right place right time.
I love what you say about twee and feeling joy!! ^_^ Well-put.
@ayachan @benhamill In my last lifetime I was a writer :P
(for the "lifetime" reference, https://www.smbc-comics.com/comic/2012-09-02 this is a great way to think of time!)
@ThisQueerBashesBack @benhamill Well, I've been a writer (from the definition of the comic) for every single life I've had. ^_^ I guess us being friends means we are in good company with each other.
@benhamill You're quite welcome. 💖 This world cherishes callous presentation and personal apathy, but never forget that true strength lies within the feelings deep inside your heart. ^_^
