wow I love my parents a lot???
we just spent almost 40 minutes discussing the nature of emotion and our experiences of it, our psychological histories, the traumas and repression they experienced from their parents and the ways it impacted my own childhood and emotional makeup, and the neurology of memory and emotion and using mindfulness to rewrite neural pathways
and then we did a guided meditation about holding onto the good - feeling cared for, feeling prized, recognizing your good qualities, and it was surprisingly intense
then they insisted on tucking me in because 'you've been strong for a long time and sometimes it's okay not to be'
