Weird specific question:
Recommendations for female vocalists who sing in the 150-180 Hz range?
@aprrrl Disney villains are all I can think of at the moment, specifically Mother Gothel and Ursula.
A note, most female pop vocalists who have a deep rich sound are actually alto-sop and just can use the bottom of their range really well, you'll sound thin and high trying to match them.
@aprrrl KT Tunstall's in that area, I think! (At least from what I remember of "Big Black House and the Cherry Tree".)
@swordjaw cool! evidently that's a song where she hits her second-lowest note in all her music: http://therangeplace.boards.net/thread/475/kt-tunstall
@aprrrl Whaaaaaaat :000 That's cool! I should listen to those other low songs.
which is to say, tenor/alto I *think*
