Plenty of practitioners don't believe those either. It can take a lot of searching to find what resonates for you, but at the end of the day it's a very personal thing. Your practice and beliefs aren't gonna 100% match other ppl. Even ppl in a system can hold different beliefs that still work together

@ambyrb I'm gonna call this synchronicity. But I'm reading a book about zen right now and I think it's being kind of helpful in this respect. I hate to think that I'm talking out of my ass, but I've felt the same way at times. But there's this idea that agency is something you have even when you don't think you do, cause everything that's voluntary is also spontaneous and trying to force a sense of agency is kind of like forcing the temperature in a room to stay the same by turning the furnace off and on repeatedly and immediately.

@ambyrb oh and before I forget, don't make the mistake of thinking that the established, booky, European traditions are the only way to do magick. Folk magic is v powerful, learning the practices of where you are or where you're from can be v illuminating. And don't be afraid to look to other places and cultures, if you find something that resonates with you there are ways of incorporating that practice whilst being respectful and sensitive.
