@lucianlutrae Most of videogames media as I understand it is mainly hype culture centered around undeserving games and the publishers who push for that. Also I think I understand a little of what I appreciate in terms of media, at least somewhat

@ambyrb well you aren't wrong there, especially since fandom under capitalism seems to push for forming identities based on what media we are able to own instead of being able to look at media with a level of appreciation beyond mere "ownership." Preorder culture, DLC that is mostly minor aesthetic adjustments, and the celebration of events like the "Steam Sale" all exemplify this.

@ambyrb Like I think what we are talking about right now is a "universal ethical principles" stage of fandom, where ultimately we realize what the majority of the fandom thinks about media and codifies as appropriate behaviour among members may not be so great after all, so we seek to move past this narrow view of media and gain a broader perspective of it all.

@lucianlutrae Maybe, the desire is very clearly there. I think I simply dislike all of these games nowadays because I make myself play them despite not liking them at all

@ambyrb Yeah, I gave up on getting all the games at first because no spare $$$ to spend on getting things on release day, but then later realizing that I can track shared experiences and then decide later if the $$ per title is worth it.

@lucianlutrae Also my tastes have become quite narrowed in recent memory from "anything that looks cool" to "multiple dimensions, surrealism, and endearing characters" but even that is too vague

@lucianlutrae even so, my enjoyment of media I simply have to question and if it weren't so late I could actually articulate my point properly
