@luluberlu duolingo seems to default to elles, I guess because eux is more complicated (didn't get taught eux for a while), so I try to use it so I don't forget about it and use ils 😅
In this case it is best to use "deux d'entre elles" because it refers to "personnes", which is feminine.
But it is completely understandable (and tolerated) if you use "eux", in case the group of people is exclusively masculine, or there's at least one man and you don't use inclusive language (otherwise, "elleux").
Yes, in this particular case, you should use "elles", without regards to the people's gender, because "personnes" is feminine.
But you can consider the people's gender and use "eux" in those particular cases. It is not the norm, but people will understand you and understand that the group you consider has at least one man. (and yeah it would be less suprising in situation, when you point to the group)
@Seipas @luluberlu okay, I would rather it depended on the gender of the word and not the people so this simplifies things 😄
@Seipas @vi bottom line: it's pretty tough to exhaustively list all cases and you'll only get a better idea of how it works by getting corrected as you try :D
