Update: New cage way too big for the ham, she can easily slip out through the bars. Think I am just going to have to settle for an aquarium.
@Mike I had the same problem with my rats and just covered it with chickenwire, though you might need a smaller kind for a hamster. I've heard aquariums aren't great for rodents cuz poor ventilation, but that might be more for rats since they have really sensitive lungs. But if you don't want to waste the cage could just thread plain wire through the bars at the right intervals
@cmdrspacebabe Thankfully I ordered it through jet and it shouldn't be an issue to return. Don't believe aquarium will be an issue with Syrians, they are very hardy and it's a recommended cage.
@Mike oh that's good (: rats have extremely sensitive respiratory systems and their urine is high in ammonia, so they need more ventilation than most.
