there is a cis woman I met on a train home from Los Angeles once; we met after she intervened when another passenger on the train was being vaguely creepy to me, and we talked for hours about a number of things including politics and feminism. she was really sweet to me at the time. we added each other on facebook and have liked each others posts but not talked much more.

tonight one of her facebook friends made a public post linking a gross transmisogynistic article on the blaze about a trans student athlete, and facebook showed me that she posted a gross transmisogynistic comment on it. I feel betrayed and at a loss for what to say to her :(

❄️Eve🌘🌬 @Eve

@morganastra that sucks. People should know better, especially people like that, especially people you know. What to do probably depends on how much you value your relationship with her.

@Eve yeah... I'm not sure how much I do, really. we're not close, certainly, but it was nice to be able to think of her as an ally, and someone outside of my usual friend group that I could call a friend. I had hoped I'd run into her on a train again someday.

@morganastra in a way it's those not too close people who hurt the most: it's a feeling of support taken away. I'm sorry to hear all this. Hoping you feel ok; there are other allies, and other friends. I hope I will see you on a train someday, for example.
