Amazing writeup of security research on the MedFusion 4000 infusion pump: https://github.com/sgayou/medfusion-4000-research/blob/master/doc/README.md , with very thorough notes on the entire investigation.
(There's also a nice cameo by a DHCP option parsing bug providing RCE.)

@hannesm Whenever I see "am I too old to X" I think about all the older people I met riding bicycles across the US when I was doing the same. Most of them had given up on ever doing it, but then got divorced or laid off (very common in '08 and '09) and had nothing keeping them where they were, so suddenly this impossible thing was possible.
It's not the same, but they were all ages, and all amounts of joy and fear. I don't think there is a "too old" for most things so much as there is a right frame of mind, and a right level of confidence that others will help you.

the fucked up thing about programming is that nobody ever says "it's cool the way you use a for loop there! i like the way you named those variables, those are good names" the only say "why did you do it like that, thats the way a baby would program. youre a baby. and not even one of the babies who can program"

For those wondering about the last sentence „we were spared from that pit of lava.“: it’s a hat-tip to Daniel Gruss who’s nickname is @lavados (e.g. on the birdsite) ;)
@gentauro @jacquespa it's quite hard to herd all those cats, in short, especially this set of anti-authoritarian cats ;)
@gentauro @jacquespa "we" and "voted" are quite complicated and sometimes rather political, is the short answer for this. Currently there is some effort going on to do exactly this with jbuilder (and a larger suite of tools around it forming a broader platform), but the (a?) trouble is the community votes with its feet*, so it can't really vote on something that hasn't yet been fully built.
*you could argue also that the community votes with $ for what to develop, but the results of that kind of vote is more likely to stay behind locked doors at companies rather than making it into the broader OCaml community.
@gentauro I think people saying "we'll start a newer better one and get a ton of community buy-in and everyone will work together to make it a good build system" is how we got into this situation in the first place.
