who is in #Wisconsin and likes #camping or #hiking and can give me a recommendation on off season public sites like #stateparks? I'm not #hunting, just chilling.

@afabulous I had some nice experiences some years ago at the northern unit of Kettle Moraine during late fall. It wasn't yet hunting season, so can't comment on how it gets that time of year.

It wasn't fully off-season yet, but I went up to Door County in mid-September and got a nonreservable site at Peninsula SP (usually booked way up during high season), and did some great day hiking at Newport SP (hike-in sites only, open all year 'round from what I can tell).

You also might want to look along the Ice Age Trail. I think many of those sites are year 'round, since people like to snowshoe/ski it and camp.

@yomimono I went to KM north a few weeks ago! (Long Lake) Unfortunately all the bathrooms are locked shut which made for a panicky moment! I've hiked in Peninsula and Newport too. Snowshoeing is a good idea, always wanted to try that. It'll test my fitness for sure.

@afabulous Yeah! I've only ever snowshoed short distances but even that wore me out pretty quick.

I do absolutely have to rec snowshoeing on a winter night with no clouds and a full moon. I wasn't even in a particularly pretty area the one time I did this, and I remember it as one of the most beautiful experiences I've had.

@yomimono people can keep their netflix and nightclubs, my perfect night involves a campfire and stargazing
