Problems which new users comment about on Birdsite. Knowing these might help with designing future promotion campaigns.
They have signed up but don't know what to do
They think they need to reserve a particular username, as would be the case on Twitter
They either don't understand instances or do understand them but dislike the concept because they have no idea which one to choose
They describe the fediverse in negative terms as a "fractured userbase". Technically true, but not understanding why this is advantageous compared to a monolithic model
Not enough of their friends are here (the network problem)
They tried Mastodon once, but then the instance they were on disappeared
They have commercial preconceptions about business models and a need for "competition" to be sustainable, not understanding that the fediverse isn't a business in the same way as Twitter of Facebook
