I really, really hate people who attack others for caring about things, or for having strong opinions, or because they are passionate. It's teenager bullshit. It's how bullies work. It's why nerds have been the scapegoats in the past and it's why people who care about the environment or social issues are a target now.

Worst of all, it's lazy. If you're not passionate then you're wasting everything and one day you'll die and nobody will care. Roar.

a thing i really want to see is a movement towards making coding more accessable by both making better tutorials and better, more sensical syntax, creating community change (to be more new person helping friendly) and for us to actually consider changing the basics for the better (see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pTEmbeENF4 ) so that finally you saying 'just code it if you want it changed, our devs arent being paid' you arent just being nonconstructive

When some people talk about filter bubbles and how it's good to burst them, they are almost always speaking in favor of centrism. "A person on the left should read right-leaning thought that they didn't agree with." But what about a left-learning person reading even-more-radical left-wing thought? That is still exposing yourself to new/uncomfortable ideas that challenge your beliefs.

I just find it curious that some people think "bursting your filter bubble" naturally lends itself to centrism.

In the Discord chat this morning we hashed out a wide spread of problems(like, every one that you might think of), and a need to start adding formal structure to get it past the solo development phase. We started on a big issues/proposals doc and Eugen is considering options, it just took a lot of pressure before he was convinced that the status quo wasn't working. Hopefully more good news to come soon. #mastodev

I respect the reasons some of my friends have for marching as individuals today, and my decision not to march doesn't make me more ethical or whatever---I'm just listing this to remind myself, and anyone else who needs reminding, that organizational clusterfucks have consequences. And to put your money to better use.

-advertised "accessible seating" in Saint Louis being on a completely empty road facing the toilets

-woman who was speaking on relevant issues at Seattle march got literally *dragged* away by police at the behest of the march organizers (with some marchers cheering for the cops)

-tons of ableism in slogans and signs

-known harassers as speakers

-marchers posting excited selfies with known sexual harassers

liberal feminism (feminism without class consciousness) has become the favourite method of corporations to appear empathetic and counter-culture without actually challenging the underlying structures that oppress the most vulnerable women, it's amazing to watch so much noise and money come from it that amounts to absolutely nothing
