Every time (really) I see some guy wondering about the lack of women in some game we're both playing (and it's not a rare event), I tell them I am one, and always get transphobia and/or misogyny. Usually a variant of "you're too good to be a real girl" (even when not remarkably good in context) or an ancient "there are no girls on the internet".

Yet they wonder why.

holy moly, the http://west.paxsite.com/schedule/panel/queering-up-misconceptions-lgbtqia-game-industry-life panel was an absolute shit show. the panelists were 4 white gay men and one white trans woman (the later of whom barely got to speak). the guys repeatedly used slurs, engaged in casual transphobia with a live character creator (e.g. joked about finding a squid alien's gender by looking at their crotch, downplayed the issue of pronouns, etc.). what the fuck
