@grime_witch In the comics they said that his dreadlocks acted like a parachute/glider wing. They even used it as a plot point in the adaptation of Knuckles Chaotix because Robotnik did evil science to shrink his dreads and steal his knuckle spikes so he needed help from Vector, et al.
