@typhlosion it also means the AL2 doesn't really get you anything over just using another license. Forks have to rename, list their changes and not conflict with installation of the original, etc., but they can just relicense and now they don't
duo's marking is just as half-assed as my answers
(I had no idea what it said so I just wrote it phonetically)
@typhlosion code is effectively under a bunch of different licenses, some of which don't even exist yet so who knows what they'll say, let's hope GPLv57 is good
plus a fork can relicense and the original can't get changes back
@typhlosion the relicensing clause is a can of worms
GPL (GNU Public Limerick)
This code can be changed on your end,
So long as you do not amend
This licensing verse,
For better or worse,
If it to the 'Net you should send.
I wonder if I could contact someone at the FSF to get them to fix their page?
Should I email Stallman?
Dear Richard,
Get your shit together
Regards,
Vi
@Sylvhem but without it this story wouldn't have happened: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-C-JoyNuQJs#t=2480s
example:
original text of the ISC license from 2000: https://source.isc.org/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=bind9.git;a=blob;f=COPYRIGHT;hb=ab26da0d8f7759a4db721ab7d6ba6351b2de1d01
commit in 2007 that changed it: https://source.isc.org/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=bind9.git;a=commitdiff;h=599a98b25ca10c501bdf3368eab2a2a951130949
@Sylvhem yeah, probably the same problem as the JSON "Don't be evil" license
oh wow, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISC_license is completely wrong because it cites the FSF who have got their history mixed up: https://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.en.html#ISC
It was ISC changed the license to add "and/or", OpenBSD still uses the original
I could change it but it will probably be reverted because the FSF said it so it must be true. I could use repo histories and diffs as sources but wikipedia doesn't like primary sources.
I've always thought the Wiccan Rede would make a good software license:
"An it harm none, do what ye will"
partly because of the inevitable arguments about whether it's a free license or not
@typhlosion here's my diff:
+/* a line for the Halffero GPL */
+/* a line for the Halffero GPL */
+/* a line for the Halffero GPL */
+/* a line for the Halffero GPL */
+/* a line for the Halffero GPL */
[... repeats 500,001 times ...]
instead of lewd/nsfw, tags like:
* sex
* kink
* kissing
* intimate
* cuddling
* relationships
* dating
* boobs
etc. are more specific and understandable. when I see "lewd" it might just be someone wanting a hug or it might be someone wanting anal, and I can't tell which
sure the GPLv3 fixed this, but no one cares about that
the best part of the GPL is that pretty much everyone seeding Linux ISOs is violating it
