@myrrhashad I liked Moffat's earlier episodes but then he didn't turn out to be a very good showrunner. And Broadchurch is apparently good (I never really watched it), so hopefully Chibnall is better at doing longer arcs than he is at individual episodes.

@myrrhashad yeah, chibnall's doing the 2018 season. the christmas special this year is moffat's last episode

@Sylvhem also it bugs me that they seemed to be setting up for Bill to have to deal with a regeneration but then had no payoff for it; the Doctor started doing the fake-out regeneration in front of her and he mentioned regenerating but didn't explain when she queried it, but now Bill's gone and he's going to regenerate without her there. Like what was the point.

I can vaguely understand chibnall wanting to play it safe for the start of his run, but for the next one he has no excuse

I really hope the Masters discussing regenerating into a woman was setting up for the next-next doctor to do the same

@Sylvhem Maybe this episode could have stood well on its own, but it just seemed like an inferior version of things Moffat had done before.

The two Masters together should have been great, but I didn't think it was as good as Ten and Eleven being together in "The Day of the Doctor".

One showing up at the end wasn't as good as the introduction of the War Doctor at the end of "The Name of the Doctor" (which is one of my favourite scenes).

Bill's ending was very similar to Clara's ending (which I didn't like very much anyway). (Although I am glad Bill and Heather got a somewhat happy ending).

@Sylvhem mostly I'm just tired of moffat, I'm looking forward to what someone else can do with it

Just lots of little things, eg. the doctor does a grandiose speech, those can be good, but not when they're used to tell not show, like the doctor explaining how he reprogrammed the cybermen. And scenes that were drawn out or had the pacing wrong (bill not realising she was cyberman, but she looked in a mirror straight away)

and the ending annoyed me, because I wanted to like that heather showed up - I was cheering - but then she did a bunch of stuff that hadn't been previously established she could do, and it just became a big deus ex machina

@Seipas I don't think you're supposed to be sympathetic to Weiss complaining about the White Fang. She grows as a character over the series, especially in the latest season.

There's more to why Blake quit the White Fang, that gets explained later as well.

And the oppression of the faunus is becoming more and more important as the series goes on.
