It's not just the current political climate, it's the fact that "historical" WWII games (and even the Stupid Jetpack Hitler games like older Wolfensteins) have traditionally given us a completely watered-down version of what the Nazis *were*.

(And even The New Colossus, at least in the ad materials, is kind of focussing on this "Destroying American culture!!!" idea that misses the point, but at least it bothers trying to portray *why* the Nazis are villainous.)
