Some kind of dipshits are trying to make the Strokes into A Thing again, and listen: no. They sucked when they put out their one album that everybody loved because Pitchfork told them to, and they still suck now. Just let the motherfuckers languish.
@tobascodagama I managed to miss that Thing entirely the first time around. Hooray for me, I suppose?
@bstacey Quite so.
@tobascodagama I'm very slow to discover new music, but that might have an upside, too.
Anybody replying to this to defend the Strokes gets blocked. Not joking.
@tobascodagama If they suck so bad I guess it's a good thing that I haven't ever heard of them.
@Kaaletram They were very much an early-2000s thing. Specifically, like 2002.
But they were ubiquitous at that time and heralded as the Saviours of Rock Music or whatever, when they were just a bunch of boring white dudes from New York who ripped off the White Stripes' low-fi aesthetic and replaced the raw emotions and hard-driving beats with an obnoxiously affected detachment.
@tobascodagama @Kaaletram we always referred to The Strokes as a four car garage band.
@allianora @Kaaletram Haha, nice one.
@tobascodagama i'm listening to the strokes right now just to spite you.
