Oscar fashion usually not my thing but digging Mahershala Ali's green velvet suit.

Are you ready to celebrate the concept of excellence in fiiiiiilm

Are enamel pins passé yet or no

The humor is a bit hit-and-miss but I appreciate it's commitment to actually being a functional nature doc series underneath the jokes.

Netflix could use a better nature docu selection but did find one of Matt Lucas saying stupid things over animal footage so, fun.

I need to understand what these mugs mean and why there's so many iterations.

I've probably watched this thirty times minimum and I never recognized him from it.

Ohhh my god, I just had a stray itch to put this on because it's one of my favorite That Mitchell & Webb Look sketches and I get to the end and it's freakin' Academy Award Nominee Daniel Kaluuya from ten years ago youtube.com/watch?v=tbfbj6Y2Ms

((Although I do think it's at least an interesting conversation to be had about how since coming back to the greater Alien-verse, Ridley Scott has obviously shifted focus from the aliens themselves and wants to tell stories about the AI characters instead.))

(See also: Prometheus being about people trying to find answers to their origins and finding out they were better off not knowing is also very much a superfluous coda to Alien shoehorning in a xenomorph origin we absolutely did not need and left the franchise is worse shape for it.)

It does do the meta bad movie thing I enjoy where it tries to say something about whether or not it was a good idea to revisit Hammond's original idea for the park but with this dumb over-the-top new designer dino to prove how cool it is and that's exactly what the movie itself is to the original JP.

I wish Jurassic World was good.

My only real hope for the Oscars is Oldman doesn't take Best Actor. Kaluuya getting it would be neat but I'm not overly hopeful even with all the scrutiny that Performative White Guilt will be more impactful than the Academy's existing disdain for genre flicks.
Surprised I'm not seeing more people calling it for DDL instead, if only because it seems like a nice way to send him off on his retirement.

I feel like they can weather the blow.

I am still enamored with that Hearthstone short. Bertie in particular.

I'll do a more public post Monday when everything's live but reactivated my Patreon if anyone wants to get in on the action early patreon.com/tashepard

If you subscribe to an artist's patreon, what kind of content would you want to receive on there as opposed to their regular output of art?

Despite being in the small club of people who enjoyed the Warcraft movie, I would still kill to have a feature-length version of something done in this style instead youtu.be/vPguoeYTvMI
With or without musical numbers. Preferably with.
