When new people turn up, maybe leave it a few days before suggesting that they move instances. You gotta let people settle in! When you straight away start suggesting other instances they should join, before they even understand instances and federation, it really throws people off-balance.
I am noping right out because my heart is hammering and my head's hazy. Time to pack.

it's actually extremely reassuring to see these "I'm a qualified <something> and <thing> is still difficult for me"
and here I will say: I'm an author and I still struggle with sentences at times, still have no idea how to explain things sometimes, and for all the words of narrative I can write it's really hard for me to write to spec (i.e. to a given request for a sort of story), especially within a deadline.
