'Grass roots' doesn't take it far enough. The term implies building off some sort of fertile ground. Modern life has poisoned not only the air, but the soil in it's compromise of the global ecology. Instead we should use 'mycelial' to include the remediation of the foundations of terrestrial life. Mycelial organizations would reclaim the waste materials of modern society and all the value it steamrolls in its relentless pursuit of growth.
