overall, this good. it would've been better to have had my live edit workflow rolled out, but

ayyyyyy got the bios updated and the beefier later gen processor installed and under the same presets it's rendering at about 2/3 realtime, literally quadruple the speed of the chip it came with. this might do. still gotta lay hands on a graphics card ffmpeg knows how to work with (fucked up there, shoulda gone nvidia, this ati shit wants way older xorg and still won't encode video). still, these are cheap mistakes and i'll live.

@Tom the push for more cleanness and sharpness is extremely offputting, but there is some benefit in that loads of sweet lenses get damn near thrown out all the time. lotta good old japanese and russian lenses out for a song, usually in screwmount m42 or m39 and easy to adapt.
