Hiya. I've been assigned to do some secretary tasks for church and thought I could repurpose my decade-old XP laptop to take notes/email on. But it's awful slow. Should I switch over to a Linux? What's a nice one for newbs? Mint? Lubuntu? I once used PuppyLinux to get some files off a dying computer but I don't know how Linux is different than Windows. Thank you for help, Linux masters!

@AesAthena lubuntu would be perfect. it already comes with an email client (sylpheed) and a text editor for note-taking (leaf) out of the box.
