Ooops went to change for circus class and accidentally put on pjs instead, guess I'm taking a nap. (its fucking cold outside and I'm feeling icky on at least two different axes and this way I will be better-rested for monsterhearts tonight. I have my priorities.)

foot, meet mouth.
Dammit, I hate it when I do that.
I'm rereading Julie Czerneda's Clan Chronicles and noticing the places where it's clear the author is a biologist and not, say, a sociologist.
Her depiction of an ecosystem with three sentient species is *fascinating*! When I read her books the thing I always notice is the loving attention to detail in creation of species and how they interact.
But I keep finding myself struggling with: since the Om'ray are significantly at the mercy of the other two species, why are they so ignorant about their oppressors' cultures? That's not really the way oppression works. (but maybe the nature of the detente is that it looks like oppression from all three sides? hm.)
