Apparently it's #ThirstyThursday but really all I want right now is a nap

I...mislaid an hour for just long enough to dash out and then unexpectedly find the missing hour again, on the bus? Or this bus to my therapist's is going backward in time. (most likely, one of the clocks in my house didn't get adjusted thus weekend.)

Anyway, I'm glad to have an hour and a half for late lunch and not just a half hour.

sitting here telling myself: no, it's okay, don't take it personally when people don't get back to you. If they've got as many people like you as they can stand that's no reflection on you, even if their quota for middle-aged women is 0.

It's tough when the silence comes from multiple directions, though.

So I logged into OKC & sent a "sorry, thanks, but no thanks" message to the last person who contacted me, like somehow that's going to balance out something somewhere...

I made myself a lime soda with the last of the habanero syrup and now I have the hiccups

If she was your first community suicide -- and maybe even if she's not-- you'll think of her every time someone else fails their battle with despair. (is that comforting?)

Every time someone falls, remember: You could not have saved her, because we cannot save anyone. We can only be there to help, while they struggle to save themselves. And if they don't, if they can't, it's never, ever, going to be your fault. (or theirs.)

Because you can't save anyone.

But you were there, and she noticed, at least sometimes. Even though she fell.

@cute_weeds noooooooo not babies! At Halloween we have pirates and ladybugs and chickens! Tomorrow they go back to being babies. :)

We've reached that point of Halloween where the neighborhood gets surreal. Little to no traffic noise, lots of screaming.

My data is old. They passed "hundreds" years ago; nowadays they're seeing thousands of trick-or-treaters every year.

My side of the street gets very few trick-or-treaters so I didn't get much candy. Soon I will walk literally one block to help out my friends who see *hundreds*.
