I am confused; the private-account setting says "...defaults post privacy to followers-only" -- how should this manifest? I've set that, but the compose window still seems to default to whatever I last used (which is public, because reasons.) Not that I'm complaining, because I was more interested in the "manually approve followers" part (because enough with the followbots, really).

@sev you can post under any privacy setting, but i recommend setting the default to at least unlisted. do note that as yet, private psots dont federate at all

@Nire I like the idea of being thoughtful about that setting & choosing carefully when/whether to broadcast.

On a practical level, I've been seeing unlisted posts not always propogating reliably -- sometimes fine, sometimes hours late, and sometimes not at all (and this differs from one instance to another -- I see yours just fine, but other people I follow, not as much. I don't have a sense yet as to whether my posts are showing up reliably on other instances...I should test that s'more, I guess, rather than just defaulting to public like I've been).

This is me, trying to resist the urge to set up a server so I can try to debug this...
