@victriviaqueen If you feel that way, you probably do. It's ridiculously friendly over here.
@BrandonHill Tell me more. What is this place of which you speak.
@schonwiedersamstag Lumberjanes is already on my Goodreads list... going to add Nimona now!
@meena Ahhh would that I could!
I used to read scientific papers and think, "This is hard to understand because I'm not smart enough or informed enough to understand it." Now I have read enough papers to know that, actually, a lot of scientific writing is awful. This becomes especially clear when you read two papers on similar subjects, one that is impossible to understand and one that is clear as day. Background knowledge is helpful, but if you have that knowledge and STILL have to read every paragraph three times to make heads or tails of what is going on... it's not you, it's the authors. #science
@inmysocks Eeee, I love it! I spent a LOT of hours in high school doodling little fantasy cottages in the margins of my notebooks. Maybe I need to sit down and whip one up again...
@schonwiedersamstag Aw, like little hacker/tinkerer sheds! I know one hacker witch whose house would be all glittery with LEDs and lasers... (@sen)
@scanlime It's the spotty tummy that gets me.
@caelan@mastodon.social I fancy myself more of a pagan with a lot of analogue hobbies...
I picture witches.town being like a little village that we all walk through, stopping by each other's little residences for tea. Makes me want to see what everyone's house would look like.
@klintron I work remotely, and I'm primarily a sexual health researcher. NSFW usually means "relevant to my life"
When you work remotely, "NSFW" actually means "not safe for coffee shop."
@schonwiedersamstag I've been as much of a vegan as I can be since I was 11... I'm lucky now to live in a big city where it's really easy.
I love all the work that I get to do, even if sometimes my brain is my own worst enemy. It's challenging sometimes, but it's also kind of the best?
What is your research about?
@schonwiedersamstag I've played sports a lot in my life, but definitely the culture of roller derby makes more fun than your average mainstream sport. I have only been playing for six months or so, but I really love it.
I'm in social work officially, but I do a lot of critical animal studies and digital scholarship. Puppies and robots! And I live a double-life as an LGBTQ health researcher =)
@schonwiedersamstag I had the same experience with Pottermore and Hufflepuff! I always fancied myself a Slytherin... but I've come to embrace it.
