Printing off this piece on "Rethinking Repair" to read sometime this week... perhaps on the bus, perhaps on Friday when I've tried to block out some time for research and reading... https://sjackson.infosci.cornell.edu/RethinkingRepairPROOFS(reduced)Aug2013.pdf
(Yes, I have a bunch of hacks around shit like this because I've been partially sighted since I was 25. It doesn't stop it from being annoying as hell when encountered.)
I really want to read this essay about Sturgill Simpson, but it's got one of those layouts that is extremely frustrating when you have your web browser's zoom up past about 125%. JUST LET ME SEE THE TEXT I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR SIDEBAR LOGO http://www.oxfordamerican.org/magazine/item/1353-ain-t-half-bad
@davethegame like that guy, but 1000% less asshole.
@aprrrl this brings me so much joy!! 😂😂
the cleric is a freak under those vestments
they are so into undergarments as treasure. I gave them a carved sigil on a leather thong and they all 100% assumed thong panty and not, like... a leather cord with a pendant on it
I honestly do not remember when I gave the party a 'self adhesive trilobite bra' as loot but it is their favorite treasure ever
LRT gosh I LOVE that RPG. I playtested several iterations. I've been wanting to get my hands on the starter set. It was a very straightforward RPG to understand even though I hadn't played the card game when I started playtesting (I was that playtester)
Sentinel Comics RPG Starter Kit. Twenty bucks. Ask for it at your local game store.

@malkosh I dunno about shipping stuff but there are often some fairly cheap paperback versions. Or, it's absolutely delightful as audio if you feel like springing for audiobooks.
@malkosh omg I thought this was a clever joke that was gonna be about Monstrous Regiment!!! BUT YES OMG READ PRATCHETT! How can we get you these books?
@dog aw, and y'all have the cute kind of possum too! (although I'm soft for American possums) and bats!! 🦇
@Sparrow yeah, that’s a pretty large region as well. I’m sure that my hometown has attracted some interesting people with University and everything, but it’s much smaller
@Sparrow whew, I know that loneliness feeling as well. For me that comes and goes based on my own life, my friends’ availability, and so forth. But it’s definitely true at points in the year.
I had the opportunity to interview for a job at the University in my hometown, and I actually ended up pulling out because I couldn’t imagine moving back there and living there. A good deal of it was the people I grew up with who stayed.
Coco was a lovely movie. Heartwarming. Beautiful colors and animation (like there was a Frozen short before this where everyone wore blue and then Coco had rich pinks and oranges and blues and greens). Great music. All kinds of feelings about death and family staying with me. Cried.
I also cried cutting onions afterward and now I feel like I’ve been through an even more intense emotional experience.
@Sparrow it can be challenging. Honestly, I befriend more people online. This includes colleagues, eg via internal chat messaging. But...it’s generally slow, involves overatures to do similar stuff, and...yeah it’s slow. I have a fair number friends, and a few close ones. All whom I met post-college. With most of whom, we keep up our friendship about 75% online. Sometimes that means doing travel to see or do things with people (like meeting elsewhere). That’s hard because $/time.
Let's go see Coco! (I'm really excited, I love death stuff, it's got lots of Mexican/Mexican-American folks working on all aspects, and it's been well-reviewed by Latinx reviewers so... here's hoping!)
