@demonkind I like that way of framing it--it might be tacky to wear any kind of imperialist thing when being in solidarity w/certain groups but it's not _actually_ a tiara or class marker. I think it was a feeling about... imperialist signafiers? I have strong negative feelings about aspects of steampunk, for example (although some folks are great) and I think it connected to that.

@ruth Same thing could be said of vampire aesthetic, largely consisting of “look at me, I am a superior class, pale, with endless wealth.”
