Blah.

Found an awesome apartment that has a dog park on the grounds (I really don't want to have to walk Kris 3 times a day, I'd prefer having a place to just let him run and do his business) and is right behind a grocery store.

Then all the google reviews are like "oh man my car got broken into like 3 times in 6 months".

But I don't have a car?!?

So uh.

*dilemma*

@Maenad As another not-car person for periods, does it only really say car? There are a lot of areas where that happens a TON but then if nobody is breaking into the apartments themselves then it's probably just people cruising the area and you should be ok. If people report muggings or apt breakins, that's more to consider.

@Maenad I also once worked in a building where people who left shit in their cars visible would get it broken into, but everyone else was ok. We had to be like LOOK IT'S A HIGH OPPORTUNISM CRIME CORRIDOR YOU HAVE TO STOP DOING THIS.

@ruth I have a feeling it's exactly that, tbh (especially as the reviewer posits it's the homeless population living under the nearby freeway, making me think there's a hefty dose of classism in there, too).

I'd say my priorities are 80% safety walking around 20% safety of belongings?

@Maenad Yeah, that makes sense to me. I mean you don't want your stuff gone, but the other is a huge fucking deal. With our opportunism, it was an extremely safe and even well-ish off place. That just also meant the cars were a great spot for opportunists and higher reward than most places.

@ruth I'm hoping with security lights + vocal dog, my house will be more or less secure?
