time for another week of trying to force myself to care about information architecture and spreadsheets

@cmdrspacebabe thoughts on spreadsheets: If you enforce your own ideas of date formatting or stripping leading 0s one more time... *fingers clench and unclench*

@ruth oh god I've been fighting with the google spreadsheets function about that all day (for non-work-reasons) because it literally doesn't comprehend that not everyone is american and thus not everyone does date formatting in month/day/year. i ended up having to strip out the date formatting entirely and just set it as plaintext because there's no way to make it stop - even if i custom-set it to do day/month/year, it assumes that my INPUT is in month/day and still changes it.

@cmdrspacebabe Now I'm thinking this should be the mastodon approach---we build our own spreadsheet system where you can set a handful of basic constants. I need YYYY-MM-DD for 100% of my date needs because I work with ISO-compliant data. Or I try to.

@ruth yes good i approve
my annoyance with work spreadsheets is more their volume and content than any particular formatting issues, but maybe i would like them more if they were in some way associated with mastodon tbh

@ruth @cmdrspacebabe ys ples (I'm working on a custom spreadsheet app right now argh)
