A friend wrote about faith, prayer, Jesus, and white supremacy in the church. And I'm grateful for her words: https://www.ashleydstevens.com/blog/2017/6/23/not-my-jesus-faith-and-police-brutality
@PlanetaryKnight for all the harm that's done in it, there are such places to cling to and such aspects to embrace. It's a reason I immediately clung to Mennonite theology, at least the kind I encountered, which reads both directions in the Bible through the lens of Jesus/Gospel, prophetic and transformational over legalistic, although like any denomination they built their own structures although there's some remnant of the prophetic/transformational/etc. even in the old order.
@ruth Still reading it but pausing a moment, Isaiah 1:17 is one of two verses I've had marked in the Bible on my shelf since age 9 and I think about that a lot. Galatians 3:28 is the other.
