Comrade skeltal here to help us fight the nazis
Hello Mastodon, here is @ConnyDuck, the new maintainer of Tusky :)
@chr @usercount @nolan yes that makes sense if a instance comes out of no where with thousands of users its probably fake
@staticsafe maybe if it wasn't what they had tried to teach us for physics i'd have learned to program
@usercount @chr @nolan and one extra instance
@nolan @chr @usercount normally there are the same, but this time there is exactly 300k difference between this bot and https://lou.lt/users/mastodonusercount/updates/44666
Kill your boss and take his loot.
so some of the jokes about this wifi thing look very weird
just so people know, in the uk nonce means a child sexual abuser
@starbreaker well as paul points our here https://todon.nl/@paulfree14/1246340 theres evidence that piracy doesn't cause a loss in profits
copyright is a product of capitalism, so you can trace the problem to capitalism, but my point was that bypassing copyright to access stuff we wouldn't otherwise have access to has positive aspects, and is for many people necessary.
i can understand why artists wouldn't just realise everything as public domain, it makes sense to try and stop people ripping of your work for a profit, but i think that's a separate issue to piracy
@starbreaker i don't really agree, of course that makes it worse, and shorter copywrites would be better but even with quickly expiring copywrite people would cut off from current culture if they did not engage in piracy
Looks like WPA2 has it's own RNG...which is faulty as designed. Oh joy.
Details are supposed to be out tomorrow, but supposedly this allows wi-fi content decryption, content injection, connection hijacking. https://twitter.com/kennwhite/status/919522184384729089
@douginamug yes most people have some money, and its good to give the producers of things you like money if you can, i just want to emphasise the positive aspects of people being able ot get entertainment/cultural products for free
@douginamug that looks better than the alternatives, i'm interested about the details of how it works, so i'll try and look at it more later
@douginamug but if you cant afford something it doens't matter who produced it or who is selling it, its justified to acquire it for free
@douginamug i don't know what that is
@calva_kun yes https://witches.town/web/statuses/98833997877117683
there could be more but not much space to write
piracy is good
how else are poor people supposed to enjoy things?
if people cant pirate stuff the media they can consume is incredibly limited
the people that make money from extra sales subscriptions etc aren't even the ones that produce the media, its rich executives and share holders, the actual producers are usually just paid once, and dont get royalties, and even if they do its only a small fraction.
not only that but things like anime only became popular in the west though piracy in the first place.
its also worth noting many artists on the internet got started with pirated copies of photoshop etc
property rights hinder innovation & keep the rich rich
@calva_kun piracy is good actually
