@robots the good news are that all of these except for MSN are still alive and well, just not mainstream anymore.
I still use IRC, phpBB had a new release last month and there's BBSes available over telnet with new ones still popping up.
What I would like to see coming back to the mainstream is something like Jabber/XMPP so we won't be locked into using commercially owned IM clients that are mostly aimed at mobile devices and lock you into some corporate scheme.
Also an updated, opensource version of Hotline would be nice!

@KawaSeadrake @kara @mona @Ulfra_Wolfe space rockets are complicated. You need a lot of money to hire all the good engineers who can build a rocket that doesn't explode on the launch pad - even the Falcon Heavy wasn't a sure launch.
It used to be that nation states would fund space development but now days either gov, public or both just don't care anymore. So all we're left with are giant corporations.
If you want NASA back at the helm we'll need to make space sexy with the mainstream again.

Idea for Mastodon. Have a source bar, kinda like how the CW works. You click a little "S" under the text box so you can post your source too. Then on your post anyone can click the "S" under it to see the source.

Rooting Android and installing xprivacy was interesting.
Facebook messenger made requests to use every single sensor of the cellphone. I blocked the use of the barometer, gyroscope, accelerator, compass, etc. Besides requests for tons of information about the cell phone.
After this I think I'll always root any personal phone I have
