@candle might have something to do with the evas not being purely mechanical :blobpeek:

@MariBari @segfault Sounds like the problem here is UX design.

Microsoft wants to shove that update whether you want it or not - so they can do it without blocking your entire screen with a notification in the middle of you doing something. That part is just bad UX design.

I also find it interesting how rarely I have to reboot Linux for an update compared to Windows, so there's that.

@Formedras @ceiphiedknight worse case, could ask someone to build it on their RPi and then send you the SD image to flash on your own card.

@mooncalf This is like how we buy expensive mobile phones and then have to spend more on a phone case because the designers of the phone barely invested in making it cope with being dropped or sat on.

@meena Wish it could make the whole phone follow this GUI theme.

That moment when you've purchased something from a new online store and they start sending you their newsletter without asking but then when you're opening it for the Unsubscribe link the stupid thing is flooded with things you actually like to see and have to start fighting with your finger to unsubscribe this thing of beauty.

😐 😐 😐 😐 😑 Graaahhhhh!! 😮

*fights the forcefield of desire in the name of principles!*

@Cakechoz ... what if I don't have/use a phone case? :gnikniht:

@gracie Looks like the partnering is one sided: Microsoft is implementing the Signal encryption in Skype, where as Signal is not putting anything Microsoft-ey in Signal. They've done this before with Facebook's WhatsApp and others.

If I'm wrong about the unidirection of this deal, please correct me - I like having privacy. 😐

@erinbee We're living in the future and what the future needs is more silver outfits, v-necked jumpsuits and atomic nucleus insignias. 👍

Here's some #advice for young #US #developers:

* Prefer hourly jobs over salaried positions.
* When getting paid hourly, insist on time and a half for overtime. If you work more than 40 hours a week, you should be paid extra. If your boss refuses, immediately leave/disconnect and do not return until the following Monday.
* Nobody is doing you a favor by hiring you. They are buying your time and effort and trying to pay you as little as possible. Don't let them fool or gaslight you.

@pewka Fairy themed mechanical gothic lolita! It does have an element of unnerving spookyness mashed up with cute. And I do like that. :owosneakythink:
