@rosa i grew up at 29 °N and lived south of 31°N for the first 23yrs of my life. i never looked back
@rosa i'm glad the world — or the folks around you — didn't give up on you during that decade. what woke you up?
that much exercise will probably come with some soreness. i have chronic lower back pain (inherited), so i've learnt exercises and habits to mitigate the flare-ups. but then there's actual body-ageing which is hard to side-step
things went a lot more slowly with my body, so it i guess afforded me the chance to acclimate to changes, but in so happening, the pace was maddening and at times spirit-breaking
@rosa that's a lot further south than anywhere i've lived in over twenty years. even places like eureka are well south of my southernmost limit. i can completely understand how california sun would be overwhelming for sure
alas, i lack sunglasses and i realized this weekend that i should try to save up for a Rx pair
@rosa i guess that's fair. ageing is weird
@rosa yeah i know it was a vampire reference :)
@rosa i used to be a bike messenger so i couldn't avoid sunlight during those years
but i exfoliate up to twice daily, use olive oil, and drink a lot of water. idk, did you see my selfies over the weekend… did i look old
@rosa vampiric advice
@catalina he's a boring materialist and not very creative or expressive with his work. he merely knows technique, but his examples are dull af. and i think his kids are traumatized by being in his pics all the time
@catalina ken is a douche
tho i concur with him that "G" stands for "gelding" because no SLR lens has any business lacking an aperture ring
@catalina so they're Nikkor G lenses
@catalina what camera body did you have for those lenses
over the weekend, my old friend and i posted a nocturnal selfie of us (which has two flash sources, so the lighting's good). but she posted our transition TL of all the years we've been friends (which is almost 20): https://witches.town/media/w_krZIcpA-vzHspQfzs https://witches.town/media/2YY9-Sdopc2xDiMlwlY
but now i have all these questions i need to work through first, i think
something really simple and clear happened today on this birbsite thread:
"@patienceinbee@twitter.com this is a wake-up call for me"
https://twitter.com/patienceinbee/status/876865070059446272
tl;dr: i'm not allistic
@rosa when i lived in seattle, i missed the rain in summertime, but i especially missed the sound of thunder. we'd hear it maybe twice in a year
@jalefkowit oh, i believe it
just this rain, on these eavestroughs
there's this light, steady summer night rain falling and i wish i had decent microphones to record and capture it for days when that sound might feel really nice. like in the dead of winter
