@Dangerous_beans in toronto, we have an old, local convenience chain, mostly fading away now (they haven't expanded in all the time i've lived here), but their name is Hasty Market. the synaesthesia of that name produces the imagery of anonymous people meeting up by the beverage coolers and doing a quickie before anyone else comes back then… for the person with external junk to be hastily putting their junk back in their breeches before getting caught :D

@hypatian though the German CD pressing is long out of print (and all the subsequent reissues never got it right), the 25th Anniversary two-disc edition finally restored the order and correct versions of the nine-song German CD pressing (appending the chopped variations from track ten onward). and that, as far as i know, is still available :)

my favourite music group since, well, summer 1991 (about a year and change after moving on from The Church for Talk Talk) has been Prefab Sprout. though i don't listen to them much these days, they're still top on my list

my favourite *album*, on the other hand, is the original German CD pressing of Propaganda's "A Secret Wish" (which i also found in summer 1991, nine months after hearing the chopped American edition). the un-chopped version answered so many questions i had about the US version. that album (and its spin-offs) i can (and do) listen to often still :)

p.s., my fave composer/artist: Ryuichi Sakamoto :)

@hypatian a girl i met at the concert — lots of eye contact between us — was my age, was gothy (versus deliberately goth), and was a kind soul. we would briefly date, but she was rattled by her own surviving of recent sexual violence from a vicious ex. i still wonder whether she ended up in a better place with her life

@hypatian ahh so you know their music. for a brief moment (right around then), they were my favourite group. the sexual assault didn't really change that (until i moved onto another ephemeral favourite before finding my true love of a music group), but i remember in the days and weeks after what happened, it was hard to listen to the CD (and tougher still because i went to see their concert maybe two weeks later). fortunately, she was not there
