@patience apropos of nothing i keep thinking you're tweaking your display name because the emoji symbol is green on ios and red on macos

despite being an apple user since before macs, and despite using macs continuously since System 6, i have never had a device which runs iOS and, touch wood, probably never will so long as it's a completely closed system (especially egregious given how its code base derived from OS X, which itself was built from a mess of open source components)
all of this to say: idk why the emoji shows up inconsistently between macos and ios
@patience augh it's actually only green in the mastodon app, in little mobile safari i'ts fine

i was a hair's breadth away from switching to linux completely a few months ago, but only didn't because it didn't support my vpn
otherwise i would have probably switched to android too, tho the impression i get is it takes a bit of work to get a secure version installed
@catalina my android device is unlocked and rooted. i suppose i could re-lock it but keep it rooted. i'm not sure what kind of secure version you'd be referring to tho
