i'm still not sure whether january-me would have expected may to be as bad as it is in the US or whether january-me had something far worse in mind. i haven't written anything in months because of depression, so i can't look back on that
@patience i expected to feel the ways it got bad more directly. as it is actually happening, it hardly feels different at all from day to day except when i step back and think about how things were six months ago

@rosa it has helped me to observe the U.S. whilst being outside of it, as being here has yielded a fairly stable, predictable state of being — while watching what's going on across the border, especially as a queer trans woman, has gotten more and more stark and harrowing
