They’re doing this with Archive-It which was developed by the Internet Archive and the goal is to try to save the online press from the "billionaire problem". News publications bought up and having their archives tampered with to remove stories or having then deleted altogether

The partner of a close friend took hir own life, presumably last night.

We only met on one weekend, which happened to be my birthday (this was coincidence), but ze was a brilliant & kind, albeit troubled soul. I only hope whatever afterlife awaits hir is kinder than was this one.

dear authors of chat programs: please stop putting one-click buttons for voice and video calls in easy-to-accidentally-press locations. at least make it a submenu, or add a conformation dialog before calling. terrible, terrible user experience.

Today I am voting on local legislation to fund schools the only way we can in a state with no income tax: By raising property tax.

I'm voting yes on all measures, which will result in a staggering 25% increase on property tax over last year.

I don't like this state of affairs. As a property owner, this hits me directly-- but it'll get passed down to renters next year, too. The alternative is not to adequately fund schools, and I can't in good conscience do that. ;~;
