the tech in the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind while would superficially be useful for removing traumatic memories, a part of me thinks it'd cause a lot of personality change since personality is a collection of experiences and since the brain stores memory relationally (as far as we know) erase a single memory even a traumatic one could cause a ripple through effect, and loss of other memories.
