@morganastra I used to have a kobo I got used that served me well for that. At least epubs and pdfs.

I kept breaking eink screens so I have a kobo tablet I also got used. I don't like it as much cause it's old and slow and makes me log in with a kobo account to set it up. But I've been using it precisely for that, reading open domain commie books.

Anyways, I'm into Kobo in general. I also had a nook once that also worked fine.
